Family Story

Howard Kincaid
Howard is a Retreader for Purcell Tire and has been with the company for over 23 years.
I came to work at Purcell Tire & Rubber Company in 1994 as a laborer, or plant worker, because I needed to work and support my family.
Over the years, I’ve worked in a lot of different areas of the plant. I started in final inspection, then worked in the buffer, repairs, grader buffers, putting tires in molds, the OTR big buffer, initial inspection, and even power washing tires. I’ve done a little bit of everything over the years, and every job has been a part of my time here at Purcell.
One of the things I remember most is when Bob and Juanita would stop and talk to me. Those moments meant a lot. I’ve also always enjoyed the people I worked with, and we could have a few laughs at work along the way.
What Purcell has meant to me over the years is reassurance. It was reassuring to know I had a steady job that I could count on.
I came to Purcell to work for my family, and we have raised five kids. Things were tight sometimes, but we did it. Through all those years, it was always nice to know I had a job to go to that was close to home and didn't take me away from my family.
Looking back, I’m proud of the years I’ve spent at Purcell and all the different jobs I’ve been able to do. I came here to provide for my family, and along the way, Purcell became a steady and important part of my life.
