Rob Turner
Rob is an OTR Tech for Purcell Tire and has been with the company for over 34 years.
I started working for Purcell Tire on May 11th, 1992. I was 22 years old! I remember it like it was yesterday and boy has it gone by fast! I grew up in the small town of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and I wanted to be a firefighter. I had been working at a small tire store called Southern Arizona Tire, which was a Goodyear dealer and then it became Western States Tire. When it sold to Western States, I decided to move to Phoenix to pursue my dream of becoming a firefighter, but that wasn't meant to be. I knew a guy from Gilbert, AZ who worked for Purcell, so I called him when I moved up there and he hired me over the phone to be a GS. I did that for about two years and then he said, "do you want to get in a boom truck?" I guess the rest is history. I have serviced OTR tires for almost all of my career, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I feel they are easier and really with all the technology on these new trucks it's like playing a video game! You just grab the tire and put it where you need it. The rest is easy.
I've had the pleasure of meeting Bob and Juanita several times and Juanita especially always stopped into the shop to say "hello" to everyone. I always appreciated that and it truly does make Purcell feel like we're family.
I like what I do and it's such a good variety. I've had the opportunity to travel quite a bit doing OTR service calls and picking up equipment from all over the country and driving it back to various stores. I've gotten to work on NASCAR trailers and NHRA drag car trailers and tires. There have been so many different things I've experienced and I'm truly grateful.
