The Purcell's
Director and Owners of Purcell Tire
My father moved out to Washington, Mo. He moved out to start this business, Purcell Tire. It looks like he started the business in 1935. The best I remember, getting in the truck and we went riding down to Arkansas to buy a mold. We put it in the back of my dad’s truck and brought it back home to Missouri.

The year of the big fire was 1967. We had a fire here in our retread plant in De Soto, MO. That changed everything. We had to start all over. We lost everything and we didn't have any insurance. Let me tell you what. Bob and I sat around for 3 days. “What should we do? Should we go work for somebody else or should we go back in business?” and Bob said, “We’re going back in business and we’re going back bigger!”
