Employee Story
Phil Lucero
I started the first half of my career at Purcell Tire in 2002. I was working at one of the mine sites near Phoenix, and a rep from Purcell was working there taking care of their tires. I mentioned that I was looking for a job opportunity and a man named Al Chicago from Purcell told me to go to the store on McDowell Road (store 60) and ask the manager there if I could help temporarily. The manager at that time was Phil Brannen and he told me he could keep me on for three months or so helping the store out. I was there for 13 years. I made my way up into the sales department, and Phil was a key mentor in my life and my career. I am forever grateful to him.
Fast forward to 2016 and I left to spread my wings and stretch myself on the manufacturing side of tires. I worked as a manufacturer rep for 5 years and I learned a lot!
In 2021, I came back to Purcell, and I was so glad to be home! I have had the honor of working for so many good people in this company. I have always been very grateful to Barry Schroeder for all the kindness and professionalism he has shown me. Dennis Flynn has also been a key contributor to me feeling like I am valued and supported in the company.
I have had some wonderful experiences like taking customers on the Goodyear blimp and renting the pool at Chase Field for a customer event, to having a good customer throw a baby shower for me and my wife. It’s been a wonderful, great ride, and I am so grateful!
