Family Story
Sydney & Karen Hampton
Karen Hampton is a Purchasing Clerk and has been with Purcell Tire for over 8 years.
Karen – I worked for an attorney who was retiring, so I had to find a new job as soon as possible. When I heard Purcell was hiring for a receptionist, I applied. I enjoyed working for Purcell and wanted to do more, so when an opportunity arose, I jumped at the chance to join the Accounts Receivable Department. After a couple of years, I was asked to join the Purchasing department. I felt like this gave me an opportunity to grow and become more educated in my career, so I accepted the offer. Over the years, so many of my co-workers have turned into people I consider friends and family. When my sister unexpectedly passed away, the love and support from my Purcell family were truly something I had never experienced from an employer. I am extremely grateful to work for and alongside such great people, including my daughter, Sydney.
Sydney Hampton is a AP Clerk and has been with Purcell Tire for over 4 years.
Sydney – I started working at Purcell as a receptionist the summer before I left for college. My mom worked for them, so I had been in the office a few times. Nick thought I had an amazing personality that was great for a receptionist, so he asked me if I would intern for the summer. Of course, 18-year-old me wanted to make money, so I said yes. Plus, my mom bought me lunch every day, so that was a benefit most people don’t get from their job. I came back to Purcell the following summer to help in the AP department. I had confided in my boss about how much I hated college and wanted to get my degree online. She offered me a full-time position that would allow me to work while I finished my degree. I loved working for Purcell and loved the people I worked with, so I accepted it. My co-workers have become family to me since then. Whether it’s birthdays, graduations, marriage, babies, etc., we come together to support each other. Literally, I think we have a celebration at least once a month. I am grateful to be a part of something so special.
